Hotel near the Festival des Correspondances in Manosque
Since 1999, Les Correspondances de Manosque has been inventing new ways of engaging with text to showcase a vibrant literature. They support young writers, celebrate today's great writers, and prioritize artistic readings and collaborations. Thus, each year, during the last week of September, more than 16,000 people travel to Manosque for five days, celebrating writing and the new literary season.
The festival is by no means a trade fair. All selected authors must have been published for the new literary season and have been read and selected by the programming committee.
Founded on encounters and exchanges, the festival focuses on three main areas:
– Giving a voice to invited authors through unique exercises: readings, cross-readings, performances, and also encounters in the town squares. – Connecting literature with other art forms by also calling on artists of all kinds (actors, musicians, visual artists) to create original works…
– Designing a vast writing journey through around a hundred "writing desks," some genuine works and others offered by local partners, to take over the public space, rediscover the pleasure of exchange, and send thousands of letters, all postmarked free of charge by the festival.
Throughout the year, Les Correspondances continues its commitment to the presentation and transmission of literature by forging partnerships with local cultural stakeholders. These collaborations have given rise to numerous projects, notably structured around the organization of a book club (to watch a video filmed by the National Book Center in Manosque, about the book club jointly hosted by Les Correspondances and the Herbès Media Library, click HERE) and a writer's residency.

Lavender Festival 2026
The Valensole Lavender Festival is scheduled to take place in July 2026 for a day filled with the scent of Provençal blue gold. In the heart of the magnificent Valensole plateau, this traditional celebration celebrates lavender in all its forms, featuring intoxicating scents, local crafts, and festive entertainment. A unique opportunity to discover the richness of lavender heritage in an exceptional setting, when the fields are adorned with their most beautiful purple color.
This magnificent festival will feature lavender-themed events and demonstrations, a craft market and local products, as well as music and festive entertainment.
